Invest in Bucks
Client Overview
Buckinghamshire Economic & Learning Partnership (BELP) aims to promote the sustainable economic development of Buckinghamshire. The Invest in Bucks website was designed to encourage businesses (large and small) to have a base in Buckinghamshire, and to show the benefits this would bring to their company.
Problem
With minimal content in place and only a bare-bones navigation structure to go on, we began putting together visuals of how the site could look, and developed a complete schematic for the site. The colour scheme was strong vibrant blues with hints of orange. The new website also had to be easily amendable with an intuitive and simple CMS.
Solution
Once a design had been chosen, we began to build a new and intuitive content management system, which was able to handle the many different types of content the website required, such as case studies, events, news articles, as well as standard pages. The new CMS also allowed administrator users to set create/modify/remove priveleges on other users for these multiple types of content.
At the core of the CMS is the excellent rich-text editor CKeditor and it's file and image management system, CKFinder. Both provide an exceptionally intuitive interface, enabling the client to maintain and update the website with ease and confidence.
The simplicity of the data model has enabled a very logical navigational structure, which is especially apparent in the automatically-created search engine friendly URLs, and automatically-created left hand menu.
The site has been designed to display well in all browsers, as well as progressive enhancements for those browsers with CSS 3 support.
