Want an Apple? Take a tablet..

iPad, the latest Apple gadget to hit the tablet market has certainly caused a storm. However, does it give the user anything new or is it just another fad?
From what I can see the iPad provides iPod Touch and iPhone features on a bigger screen. So basically it's bigger to carry around. Yes you can use the touch screen in some fantastic, whizy ways, but how does it compare to a standard laptop and mouse? At least a laptop offers some screen protection against scratches and I also see there is a massive market for add-on gadgets for the iPad starting to develop. No different to the laptop market I hear you say but then, we're talking about giving the user something more. Additional features that will make the experience easier, more intuitive and less costly for the average iPhone, or Laptop user for that matter.
Can't wait to get your hands on one? As it stands now the iPad cannot compare on cost alone when you set down Apple's iPad next to a good quality laptop costing a few hundred pounds. My only hope is that someone reading this will be willing to give us some feedback on actually owning one especially where is it has replaced the need for a laptop altogether. Come on Stephen Fry, you must have one by now!

looks like a good gadget, flash and all that, posers will by it initially by it to show off, serious users will wait and see how it pans out. Do get me wrong its a beautiful design as always with mac, but where does it fit! Big phone/small lap top. Paul you are correct , no protection for the screen , no keyboard, its only 1" smaller than a powerful macbook. And Steve Job's looked a right geek at the presentation, he needs a new wardrobe, he wasn't cool at all. Not a great image for a leader of a powerful corporation like Apple.
